Automotive data line EMC filters get AEC-Q101, and ISO10605 surge

“These are the first common-mode filters on the market with automotive-grade qualification and automotive surge compliance guaranteed,” claimed ST. “They are not only produced and qualified according to AEC-Q101 requirements but are also designed and tested against automotive surge specifics such as ISO10605.”

The products each protect two pairs of data lines, and consist of two common mode chokes (one per pair) and four Zener diodes (one per line).

ECMF04-4HSM10Y has 2.2GHz differential bandwidth to suppress common-mode noise on HDMI 1.4, MIPI, and connections. Attenuation reaches -25dB at 900MHz and -14dB at 1.5GHz – preventing, according to ST, radiated noise from reducing the sensitivity of cellular and GPS antennas.


ECMF04-4HSWM10Y has 3.5GHz bandwidth, and so can work with LVDS, DisplayPort, USB 3.1 and HDMI 2.0 buses. There is -30dB attenuation at 2.4GHz and -16dB at 5.0GHz – this time protecting, according to the company, Bluetooth equipment and V2X (vehicle-to-everything) Wi-Fi antennas, as well as cellular and GPS systems.

“The filters are for reliable functioning of ADAS (driver assistance systems), they are placed on high-speed data lines for camera, radar, display, multimedia and other connections to prevent interference with wireless-communication equipment,” said ST.
